Born January 25, 1972 in Valdese, North Carolina.  I have been married to my beloved wife, Jamie Cline (June 1991), who is a tremendous asset and blessing to my ministry and gift from God; one child Bethany, who is currently twenty years old, very active and athletic, and the other love of my life.  We have two dogs, Buddy and Miracle who continually add excitement and joy to our busy lives.

  • 14 years of serving as a pastor.
  • 10 years of serving as a Student/Outreach Pastor.
  • Teach regularly as a Substitute Teacher throughout the Burke County School System on an as needed basis.
  • Active member of North Carolina Baptist Men Disaster Relief and trained in recovery and mass feeding
  • 2000 to present have coordinated World Changers Student Mission Trips in various cities across eastern United States.
  • Taught numerous Discipleship Training Classes with adults, youth, and children throughout my ministry in the church and with my local association

  • During my time at Gardner-Webb University, I minored in Christian Education and Communication while participating regularly with Campus Ministries where I preached throughout western N.C. at various churches.

     

Pastor, Westmont Baptist Church, Johnstown, Pennsylvania - 2016 - Present

Pastoral Duties and Accomplishments

  • Discerned and delivered Weekly expository sermons and Bible study preparation for services all services

  • Endeavored to minister to families during Funerals and Weddings as requested

  • Collaborated with other organizations and churches to communicate at Revivals as requested

  • Enacted Westmont to fund, equip, and begin the “Good Morning Café’” ministry on Sunday mornings to provide intentional opportunities to build relationships with our guest and membership

  • Steered Westmont to implement a required “New Believers” class for all wishing to join the church body as full members

  • Leveraged Westmont to implement several visual and audio improvements in the worship services to help champion greater connections with those in attendance

  • Fostered Westmont to forge and implement a Greeter Ministry that helped secure our facilities, while providing an entry level ministry opportunity for new and current membership

  • Strategized Westmont to become more mission minded through on-going giving and personal hands on mission opportunities, locally and beyond

  • Empowered Westmont through three months of purposeful training concerning the nuts and bolts of small group ministry to spearhead our connect group ministry

  • Initiated Westmont to begin off-site Bible study groups called “Connect Groups” within the Wards and Burroughs of Johnstown to intentionally build relationships where God has placed the church body individually

  • Orchestrated with various organizations and denominations in Johnstown to host Block Parties throughout the summer that connected with over 5000 individuals during the summer months, greatly increasing our Awana attendance – 2017 to Present

  • Implemented and coordinated prayer walks through local schools, housing developments, and our community at large during the summer months

  • Influenced our Awana Ministry as games leader and TNT leader, also served as a judge at yearly Awana Bible Quizzing Competition.

  • Challenged Westmont to double Samaritans Purse Shoe Box ministry from 25 to 67 

  • Steered Westmont to impact lostness by inviting area groups/bands to provide a quarterly concert to attract outside guest and present the gospel through music

  • Strategicly led Westmont to reconnect and partner with the local Conemaugh Valley Baptist Association and Pennsylvania/South Jersey State Convention which opened up numerous ministry resources and opportunities

 

Community Involvement

  • Umpired baseball and softball with Johnstown City Recreational Department to expand network opportunities for the church body

  • Endorsed and participated with our Community Good Friday service which brought together six difference Christian denominations (Catholic, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Church of the Brethren, Methodist, and Baptist)

  • Arranged Westmont to engage our homeless community by partnering with Mark 16 Ministries and providing a meal to 60+ individuals on a quarterly basis

  • Sparked Westmont to influence hunger in our area through collecting and donating non-perishable food to the local food pantries

  • Authored Westmont to assemble “Jonah Boxes” for the needy in Johnstown by providing a three day supply of food offered to everyone who called about a need.

  • Endorsed Westmont to donate generously to Precious Life, INC. which is a ministry to unwed pregnant moms providing a biblical alternative to abortion.

  • Steered Westmont to allow a struggling church body to use our facilities on Monday’s to help with spiritual impact

  • Orchestrated Westmont to become the Westmont Hilltop High School disaster response hub for parents and students

 

Associational Involvement

  • Speaker for the Annual Meeting as requested

  • Teacher for Youth Summer Camp as requested

  • Served as Vice Moderator – 2018 to present

  • Served with other churches with in CVB Association to accomplish numerous construction projects to help those in need – 2016 to present

  • Attended weekly Pastor’s breakfast as time permitted

  • Participated in monthly Pastor’s Cluster, which helped local pastors grow towards becoming better leaders within the church God has called us to serve

 

State Convention Involvement

  • Member of the 2017/2018 National Disaster Relief Long Term Rebuild Committee

  • Western Pennsylvania Disaster Relief Assistant to Rev. Kenton Hunt, State DR Director

  • Offered and Conducted Disaster Relief Training at Westmont Baptist Church training volunteers in mass feeding, recover, mud outs, chain saw, and other roles as made available or needed with a disaster response

  • Served with NAMB Send Relief College ministry in Puerto Rico (2018) which engaged 137 college students in disaster relief construction work while exposing the students to the struggles of language barriers on the mission field as the gospel message was shared

  • Spearheaded Westmont in the hosting and implementation of a World Changers mission week in Johnstown that ministered to 13+ families, using 130 volunteers from for other states, and opened numerous ministry and network opportunities from the local to state level.

Pastor, Bethel Baptist Church, Morganton, North Carolina – 2006 to 2015

Pastoral Duties and Accomplishments:

  • Weekly expository sermon and Bible study preparation for services throughout the year as needed and expected.
  • Funerals and Weddings as needed and requested.
  • Lead in revival services as requested.
  • Assist the Youth & Children’s workers with discipleship, activities, teaching opportunities, fundraising, trips, and student drama.
  • Implemented and coordinated the “Faith Evangelism Strategy, GROW, and CARE Ministries” as our main outreach and evangelistic strategy to reach the unchurched and prodigal membership while encouraging current membership to use their gifts and talents outside of regular services to do ministry and service.
  • Implemented and coached the church body through the Transformational Church Strategy/Process with the leadership of Phil Oakley, Associational Director.
  • In the process of Coaching the Deacon Ministry Team through the development and implementation of a new vision statement, mission statement, and core values.   
  • Implemented and coordinated prayer walks through local schools, housing developments, and our community at large.
  • Implemented the instillation of a video system (projector’s, screens, computers, camera’s, and etc.) in our worship services to help enhance the corporate worship experience while extending our ability to reach out through various social media and other ministries to current membership and prospective members.
  • Helped implement the stewardship ministry team and church treasurer away from paper ledgers to computer driven software with the goal of tracking and maintaining more accurate church financial records and improved reports.  This transition has greatly helped the Stewardship team track expenses, while developing healthier budgets for the church body.
  • Help implement outreach/missions projects that ministered to our community and county – Back Yard Bible Clubs, Food Drives, Coat Drives, Book Bag Drives, VBS, Easter Eggstravaganza, Christmas Specials, Operation Insasmuch Projects, Handicap Ramp Projects, Partnership with South Mountain Baptist Camp, Burke United Christian Ministries, and our local schools.
  • Encourage missions giving and going as we have earned the “Cartersville Challenge” from the International Mission Board four out of my eight years of ministry.
  • Help implement the division of an older Sunday School class that was near capacity, in order to divide and multiply with the goal of reaching and touching more people.
  • Help implement a new member’s packet and class for new members.
  • Coordinate World Changers Mission Trips through Lifeway Student Ministry – involved since 2000
  • Teach New Membership Class to all seeking membership with our Church Fellowship.
Community Involvement:
  • Volunteer for local schools – Field trips, activities, etc.
  • Plan and implement various teacher appreciation luncheons for local elementary school.
  • Encouraged church body to participate in local school angel tree ministry in which we adopted 15 angels yearly.
  • Encouraged church body to designate August as school supply month for local schools.
  • Encouraged church body to serve lunch at Burke United Christian Ministries on fifth Thursday’s and Friday’s throughout the year.  We were involved in this ministry for four years.
  • Encouraged church body to agree to a one year partnership with our local South Mountain Baptist children’s camp by adopting one bath house and four cabins to perform various construction projects and wiring needs during the off season.
  • Spoke at various community functions sponsored by different organizations and clubs.
  • Substitute teacher for the Burke County School system, especially the schools in our community.
  • Coach various ages of girls indoor soccer, softball, and basketball teams – (8U to 16U).
  • Umpire softball and baseball as requested and available.
  • Member of the community Chesterfield Ruritan (since 2012).
  • Partner with local Baptist Camp to help where and when needed

Associational Involvement – Catawaba River Baptist Association:

  • Volunteer counselor at annual Toy Story Ministry (CRBA)
  • Participated in weekly Pastor’s Meetings (CRBA) as scheduled allowed
  • Speaker at Pastor’s Meetings as requested (CRBA)
  • Member of Constitution and By-laws ministry team which transitioned the association away from a committee driven constitution to a ministry team driven constitution which has been a blessing.

Pastor, Colerain Baptist Church, Colerain, North Carolina, 2003 to 2006

Pastoral Duties and Accomplishments:

  • Weekly expository sermon preparation for Sunday morning service. 
  • Weekly Bible study preparation for Wednesday studies.
  • Conducted funerals and weddings as needed
  • Implemented and coordinated the “Faith Evangelism Strategy” as our main outreach and evangelistic strategy to reach the unchurched and absent membership while also helping to meet the demands of the weekly visitation needs within our congregation.
  • Encouraged several remodeling projects of the church facilities, creating opportunities for new ministries while helping current ministries to be more effective
  • Created, coordinated, and implemented a 24 hour prayer room
  • Planned and coordinated annual prayer walks at the local children’s camp (Camp Cale)
  • Encouraged, helped plan and coordinate monthly “Outreach Saturdays,” a handy man ministry to our community and congregation
  • Encouraged and help implement a team to be trained and help with NCBM Disaster Relief in the areas of Mass Feeding, Recovery, and Assessment.
  • Encouraged, participated, and help implement several Disaster Relief Trips to Gulfport, MS; Grifton, NC; and Clyde, NC. 
  • Coordinated and implemented the construction phase for “Katrina Rebuild,” which resulted in 450+ volunteers (youth and adult) working on 38+ homes in Gulfport, MS. sponsored by Serve Management.
